How does on-site drapery cleaning work?
We clean drapes while they hang. We test a hidden spot for colorfastness and shrinkage, mist on a light cleaning solution, extract it gently with a tool made for fabric, and dry the panels quickly. Fast drying is part of what keeps drapes from shrinking.
Most jobs take under an hour. Larger homes with many windows take about 1 to 3 hours. Because nothing comes down, nothing gets lost, folded wrong or rehung crooked, and the room is usable again the same day.
Silk, sheers, blackout and lined panels
Not every drape is the same inside. Sheers clean quickly but show every water mark, so they get the lightest touch. Blackout and thermal linings have a coated back that must not be soaked or scrubbed. Lined and interlined panels hold moisture between the layers, so we keep the mist light and the drying quick. Silk, linen and velvet each get a fabric test and the gentlest method that will clean them. Valances and swags are cleaned in place along with the panels.
If a panel is sun-rotted or already tearing, we tell you before we clean it rather than after.
Tall windows and motorized treatments
We clean tall panels in foyers, great rooms and stairwells on site, with the ladders and reach they need, and we work around motors, tracks and controls so the treatment keeps running smoothly. Tassels, fringe and trims get tested separately.
After smoke or water
Drapes hold smoke odor long after a fire, and a roof leak can stain them. Smoke-damaged drapes need cleaning to remove the residue, not a cover-up scent. See fire and smoke damage.
How is drapery cleaning priced?
Drapery is quoted on site, because size, fabric, lining and height all change the job. Cleaning drapes is taxable in Texas, and the quote will show the sales tax. Ask for a quote on our pricing page, or call or text. We confirm the price before any work starts.
